24-09-25 | So you wanna know all about the big Halloween releases of 2025 do ya? You and me both, sister. There are plenty of spooky graphic novels out this year, but few of them really stand out. Which doesn’t mean we’re not excited about Harley Quinn X Elvira or The Haunted Box. And I suppose Spider-Man Noir and Gotham Academy are creepy enough to offer you some Halloween gloom. I guess things are never as bad as they seem. Unless you feel obligated to delve into the latest multi-part X-Men blockbuster. No rest for the wicked …

X-MEN : AGE OF REVELATION – OVERTURE #1
Following the events of the previous mayor story arc, Age of Revelation follows the misadventures of the mutants in Revelation’s world. Some applaud his attempt at creating a vast mutant sanctuary, others predict it’ll end in tears. This issue kicks off a forty issues arc starring all you favourite X-Men.

HARLEY QUINN X ELVIRA #1
Check out this cool collaboration between Dynamite and DC Comics. To help out Elvira after her TV show has been cancelled, Harley organizes the biggest Halloween party ever. With Quinn in charge it’s bound to be a riot! Two titans of quirky comedy meet in this fun holiday themed mini-series.

SPIDER-MAN NOIR #1
Nicholas Cage is Spider-Man in the upcoming Amazon Prime series … but nothing beats the comics. Let Marvel take you to the hardboiled 1930s! In this gothic take on Spidey, Peter Parker tries to solve the murder of Gwen Stacy’s father. This latest Noir thriller was created by Larsen & Broccardo.

THE HAUNTED BOX #1
A stylish and sinister indie release by Iron Age Comics. The Haunted Box features six chilling tales to brighten up (or is that darken?) your Halloween. Among the stories is the tale of the Blood Queen, who is also the cover girl for this monumentally monstrous collection of spooky stories.

GOTHAM ACADEMY : FIRST YEAR #1
Prequel time! You like Gothic boarding schools reminiscent of Harry Potter and Wednesday? Then travel back to Gotham Academy, for a young adult tale set in Batman’s world! Bruce Wayne sends his young ward Olive Silverlock off to Gotham Academy, where she promptly starts solving mysteries.

SPAWN : THE DARK AGES #1
Medieval Britain is torn apart by bloody battles. King Aurelias resorts to desperate measure. The survival of his people depends on Spawn. This series ran for three years back in the late 1990s and now it’s back at last. Also check out King Spawn this month, which is celebrating its fiftieth issue!

MARY SUE #1
Another superb graphic novel by BOOM! Studios. Mary Sue escapes the troubles of being a teenager by writing fanfiction about the colourful Cassie. Social tensions run high when Cassie is unleashed into the real world. It’s meta, nerdy and loads of fun from Meghan Fitzmartin and Lisa Sterle.

I HATE FAIRYLAND #45
Scottie Young’s anarchic masterpiece is treated to a guest appearance by none other than … Popeye the Sailorman! Dear old Gertrude is still stuck in the candy coloured sickly sweet nightmare called Fairyland. Trusty old Popeye might be able to send her home at last! With guest artist Jay P. Fosgitt.
