17-12-25 | The new year is almost upon us. The perfect time for renewal, it seems. As old series fade into the distance, new ones rise from its ashes. Anthologies are hot in 2026! Wolverine and Wonder Woman both reignite their old Black & White titles, while Savage Sword of Conan takes a much deserved break. And let’s not forget about groovy graphic novels like Bloodland and Pinupocalypse! What a great start to the new year. Let’s delve straight in, shall we?!
ABSOLUTE BATMAN: ARK M – one shot
Since the Absolute Batman range is all about reinvention, I’m slightly sceptical about this reintroduction of Arkham. Happily this take on the infamous asylum is rather interesting. With Absolute Batman going from strength to strength, we’re giving this one the benefit of the doubt.
CARMEN RED CLAW: BELLY OF THE BEAST #1
The once mighty western genre deserves more love in current comics. Dark Horse steps up to the challenge by bringing us Carmen Red Claw! From the dependable imagination of Mike Mignola comes a creative cowboy adventure, steeped in supernatural horror. Set in the Hellboy universe, of course.
THE SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN #12
Titan Comics wraps up its current run of Savage Sword in style. The last in a series of magazines (rather than comic format) features the barbarian, plus stories starring El Borak and Bran Mak Morn, both originated by Conan founder Robert E. Howard. A raw fantasy anthology of the finest kind.
LOGAN: BLACK, WHITE & BLOOD #1
Wolverine has already been treated to his very own Black & White series, which featured plenty of bloodstained tales. To celebrate Logan’s return to the series Marvel offers you three fierce tales by artists such as Saladin Ahmed, Adam Kubert, Dave Wachter and fan-favourite Larry Hama. Fun stuff!
