26-02-25 | A couple of years ago DC Comics released a wonderfully schlocky storyline in which their superheroes met Godzilla and King Kong. It must have struck a cord because next month Marvel Comics launches a similar series called Godzilla vs. the Fantastic Four. But DC is striking back by teaming up with IDW to bring you DC x Sonic the Hedgehog. That’s right … Sonic the Hedgehog will join forces with Superman, Batman and the rest of the Justice League next month! Which team-up will you be supporting?

DOCTOR STRANGE OF ASGARD #1
The sinister Doctor Doom still rules the planet in the ongoing One World Under Doom range. In this neat little title Doctor Strange has surrendered his powers to Doom. But the supreme sorcerer won’t give up so easily. He now plans to gain a new set of abilities at Asgard, the domain of the mighty Thor.

USAGI YOJIMBO: TEN THOUSAND PLUMS #1
A new chapter in the popular cult series by Stan Sakai. In this tale the ronin Miyamoto Usagi takes it upon himself to protect a field of plum trees, following the death of several innocent people. It’s another stunning blend of feudal Japanese culture and colourful artwork. A three-part miniseries.

GODZILLA VS. THE FANTASTIC FOUR #1
The King of Monsters returns to the studio that launched his comics career in the US. And the Fantastic Four are not the last Marvel heroes to face Godzilla! This is only the first of six battles which will pit Godzilla against different characters in different Marvel era’s. An exciting prospect indeed!

DC X SONIC THE HEDGEHOG #1
When Darkseid invades Sonic’s home world, the scrappy little hedgehog seeks out the help of those who fought him before: the Justice League. And just like that DC is back in the race! This title is part of a trend of gimmicky and corny one-shots, but it’s SO much fun. Plus: Flash and Sonic are a great match.

ABSOLUTE FLASH #1
If you prefer your tales of spectacular speed runners straight up, then you might enjoy Absolute Flash. This time ‘round the Flash is hunted by none other than his very own father. The Absolute range radically reimagines familiar superheroes, ditching nostalgia and embracing edgy storytelling.

BATMAN AND ROBIN: YEAR ONE #6
The classic DC mythology is still thriving, though. The final part of this six part saga examines the first adventures the Dynamic Duo had together. It’s classic Batman & Robin from the Bob Kane / Bill Finger era finally coming to a close … or is that start? With Mark Waid at the helm it’s bound to be good.

VENOM WAR – collected edition
We’ll wrap up with two great paperbacks. Marvel collects the brief but fun Venom War story arc. Eddie and Dylan Brock fight for the right to be the true Venom. A war between father and son, which might lead to the downfall of poor old Spider-Man. Superb stuff by artists Al Ewing and Ian Coello.

BATMAN: OFF-WORLD – collected edition
And finally … blast off into space with Batman! This is not a corny 1950s adventure to Mars, mind you. Off-World sees Batman teaming up with alien warriors to defeat the mysterious Blakksin Twins. This thrilling adventure truly proves that Batman is the most versatile superhero our there. Read it!
