22-04-26 | Despite focussing on loose issues in these articles, I personally prefer collecting trade paperbacks of my favourite comic series. Well, May is a good month for collected editions! DC Comics releases two must own hardcover volumes of Superman and Batman. The Batman collection particularly excites me, as it collects one of the finer modern day anthologies featuring the Dark Knight. And let’s not forget Free Comic Book Day, folks! What a month!

From the fine folks at BOOM! Studios comes another chapter in the Slaughterverse, which originated in the modern classic Something is Killing the Children. This spin-off focusses on Cecilia Slaughter and the last days of the House of Slaughter. Which means it’s every monster hunter for herself.
STAR TREK: RED SHIRTS – collected edition

Hot on the heels of its Batman counterpart, this Superman omnibus collects several of the Man of Steel’s alternate incarnations. This massive hardcover includes an homage to silent film Metropolis, Supeman raised by wild animals and even a superpowered Batman. 1200 pages of vintage fun!
BATMAN: URBAN LEGENDS OMNIBUS – collected edition
Forget never-ending story arcs! Batman: Urban Legends collects over twenty tales originally published in the DC anthology of the same name. If you love Batman and yearn for variety, Urban Legends has something for everyone. Let’s hope The Batman Chronicles gets a similar release someday soon!
BATTLEWORLD – collected edition
With so much DC goodies out there, can Marvel keep up? Boy, can they ever! Superheroes from every corner of the multiverse are pitted against each other for a battle to the death. Yet another variation on the classic Secret Wars theme starring Spider-Man, Storm, Thor, the Wasp and others.
DOOMQUEST #1
Want more Marvel? How about this new mini-series starring one of the greatest comic book villains in all of comics.
