NEWS : DC COMICS REVIVES THEIR GOLDEN AGE SANDMAN

05-10-23 | For several decades the name Sandman has been intimately associated with the celebrated Neil Gaiman, who created the character for one of DC Comics most highly regarded and artistic series. But what of the original Golden Age Sandman? Wesley Dodds, the star of Adventure Comics from 1939 to 1946, has been living in the shadow of his namesake for many years. Until now.

After his key appearance in the Knight Terrors storyline, DC Comics appear to be fully embracing the classic Sandman once more. Wesley Dodds: The Sandman debuts next week, with a noir-style scenario which is not to be missed. ‘After years of testing and experimentation, Wesley perfected his sleep gas as the optimal weapon to fight crime without causing undue harm.’

‘But when his journal detailing all his failed and far more deadly formulas is stolen, the Sandman must hunt down the thief and the people in the shadows pulling the strings before the contents of the journal are released!’ Haters refer to DC Comics as dated and old fashioned. Well, DC have decided to double down on vintage heroes by publishing Wesley Dodds: The Sandman. Swirling fog, trench coats and dark secrets set The Sandman apart from Marvel’s glossy output. Quite refreshing!
