18-04-23 | After six stunning issues Image Comics’ Plush comes to a close next week. The dark tale of furries gone rogue was the brainchild of artists Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard, who previously worked on the equally disturbing graphic novels Plastic and Vinyl. A funny yet truly sinister series, which is sure to become a modern classic.
So what’s it all about? Plush deals with the unfortunate Devin Fulcher and his first ever trip to a furries convention. He has the bad luck to stumble upon a cult of cannibalistic killers obsessed with the furry lifestyle. Think of it as My Little Pony meets Texas Chainsaw Massacre, filled with bright colours, happy animals and tons of disgusting gore. Elements which are sure to be ramped up for the thrilling conclusion.
Speaking to Comicbookmovie.com, Doug Wagner explained that ‘one day, I was wasting my time away on the socials and bumped into a picture of a furry that immediately sent chills up my spine. I started giggling to myself when the thought of a group of furries hunting people would be hilarious to me. It started writing itself from there.’ And thus Plush was born. Be sure to collect the loose issues or be on the lookout for a future collected trade paperback. If you like the taste of Plush: Plastic and Vinyl are still available from Image Comics.
