NEWS : MARVEL AND DC COMICS CELEBRATE PRIDE

06-06-23 | It’s Pride Month! Time for Marvel and DC Comics to show their support and appreciation once more by releasing some fabulous books. DC Comics offers a great package of reprints, while Marvel Voices uses the opportunity to launch several new characters. Pride-themed comics are quickly becoming an annual event and a very welcome one at that.

Marvel Voices offers readers a prelude to Dark X-Men, which will premiere in august later this year. Written by Steve Foxe and drawn by Rosi Kampe, the preview will focus on Gimmick, a relatively new lesbian character modelled after fan favourite Gambit. Another tale, by Marvel debutant Sarah Gailey, deals with Black Cat as she swoops in to protect the New Orleans Pride celebrations. And to top it all off, Marvel teases the introduction of a new symbiote character. Just three of the many thrilling and uplifting tales featured in this special issue of Marvel Voices.

While Marvel gazes into to the future, DC Comics delves into it’s impressive past. DC Pride: Through the Years will feature three classic yarns featuring pioneering characters, not to mention a brand new Green Lantern tale. Reprints include The Flash #53, featuring Superman and the outing of the Pied Piper, Detective Comics #854, in which the modern Batwoman debuted, plus Supergirl #19, starring non-binary Lee Serano. A stellar line-up of stories, not to mention a fun nostalgic cover by Derek Charm. Get Marvel Voices and DC Pride: Through the Years next week!
