01-08-23 | Starting this week, the world of the X-Men will start crumbling to dust. A brand new story arc, spread across countless issues, will smash the world of the X-Men into powder. Marvel Comics teases that the impact of Fall of X will be so great, there is question of whether the X-Men will ever be the same again. With X-Men: Before the Fall wrapped up in July, it’s up to X-Men #25 and Astonishing Iceman #1 to lead Fall of X to the hights of previous storylines like House of X.
‘The catastrophic events of the Hellfire Gala will send your favorite characters away from the safety of Krakoa and into a dark new age known as Fall of X! Filled with bold developments and shocking directions, Fall of X will be a thrilling and unpredictable period of X-Men storytelling that will unfold in new arcs of continuing X-Titles, as well as various all-new limited series.’ Notable comics include a new start for Dark X-Men, Logan on the run in Wolverine #36 and a spectacular aftermath within the pages of Uncanny Spider-Man.
Nevertheless, Marvel fans are sceptical. Quite a few critics have noted how X-Men events like Fall of X have become far more frequent in recent years, lessening their impact. On top of that, engaging the Avengers and Spider-Man feels like an act of desperation. Is Fall of X too involved? Would X-Men work better with less interwoven series and fewer peripheral characters? You be the judge.
