22-08-23 | After nine successful series, The Flash has ended with a grand finale. The four part story A New World can soon be relived on Blu-Ray and DVD, courtesy of Warner Home Video. Also out on the same day is The Flash: the Complete Series box set, which is the perfect way to rediscover classic episodes or to introduce yourself to almost a decade of superhero thrills.
Season nine contains two major story arcs , starting with Rogue War, in which the Flash takes on Red Death, a former speedster from an alternate reality hellbent on killing Barry Allen. A New World finds the villainous Eddie Thawne threatening to tear apart Flash’ family of heroes. The two tales are bridged by Interlude IV, comprising of four episodes. Lately ratings for the show have not been great, but Flash bravely soldiered on, hitting 184 episodes in total.
The Flash season nine not only wraps up the TV adventures of Barry Allen, its also the last chapter in the Arrowverse. Green Arrow’s solo show Arrow was a big hit for CW, paving the way for more DC characters to appear in their own series. This culminated in several crossover events, including Crisis on Earth X and Crisis on Infinite Earths, which teamed-up Supergirl, Batwoman, Arrow, Flash and the Legends of Tomorrow.
