22-06-23 | Dark Horse Comics releases one of their most quirky graphic novels thus far a mere week from now. Their pitch for The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos hypes the comic as: ‘an LGBTQ+ horror-hero coming-of-age series that’s Invincible meets Doom Patrol’. Now there’s something you don’t hear every day, huh?! No matter how you choose to describe Christopher Chaos, it promises to be a completely unique and positively bizarre addition to your collection of graphic novels.
The story follows the misadventures of Christopher Chaos and his inability to fit in at school. Christopher, you see, is a mad scientist. Along for the ride is a young superhero called Dracula Boy. ‘Christopher and Dracula Boy joins forces to take on the crime-infested streets of New Briar City while, at the same time, look for a way to bring Christopher’s high school crush back from the clutches of death.’
Evidently creator James Tynion is not afraid to be corny, which we applaud. Afterall, why be tasteful when you can have a character called Dracula Boy running around?! The Oddly Pedestrian Life of Christopher Chaos captures the essence of teenage rebellion. A comic book approach to the popular Young Adult literary genre. The first of three issues will be available next week, with a paperback or hardcover edition expected to arrive in late 2023.
