NEWS : VINTAGE FRANK FRAZETTA MONSTERS RESURRECTED

03-10-23 | Opus Comics add another title to their ever expanding Frazzettaverse! Beyond the Grave features cover artwork by the legendary Frank Frazzetta, painted for Creepy magazine in 1966. Justin Jordan and Sebastián Cabrol have spun this iconic cover into a vintage horror yarn which you won’t want to miss. Beyond the Grave appears to be a one-shot, but might lead to a full series if we’re lucky!

Given the continued success of Death Dealer and Tales of Science-Fantasy, the chance of more Frazzetta titles being added to Opus Comics’ roster is very real. For several years now the plucky little publisher has been using Frank Frazzetta cover art to create not just incredible individual stories, but a whole fictional universe dubbed the Frazzettaverse. It truly breathes new life into vintage cover art.

Frank Frazzetta passed in 2010, but his legacy lives on. The child prodigy started working in comic books when he was only 16 years of age, way back in 1944. In the 1960s he turned his attention exclusively to cover art, when gigs for movie companies and record labels provided him with considerable financial stability. His covers for the Conan the Barbarian paperbacks in particular defined fantasy art for generations. Art which lives again thanks to the fine folks at Opus Comics!
