Based on Frank Herbert’s 1965 classic, the two films tell the story of the House of Atreides’ attempt to claim the rugged desert world of Arrakis. This planet is the source of a mystical spice, which grants its users heightened abilities.
In an age of sprawling television epics, the decision to restage Dune for the big rather than the small screen was a bold one. Though some felt the film was lacking, Dune: Part One was overall well received. It’s thoughtful and highly aesthetic approach to science fiction left an impression, and Dune: Part Two is bound to achieve the same thing.
